The Complaints Disturb Walking Activity
Walking is an easy and simple activity. For some people, it is even fun exercise. Nevertheless, there may be problems occur to them who like walking. Particularly, when they have to cover a far distance or have to walk during long enough time. Indeed, for ones who unaccustomed with walking may find some complaints.
At the beginning it felt like an unimportant thing to concern, but after a long time it just appears to disturb the walking activity. Be careful, if it is being neglected, is not impossible to let the disturbed complaints develop become an injury.
According to a medical consultant of Indonesian athlete, actually complaint as an effect of walking is rarely happen. Walking assumed as a most exercise of choice, because everyone can do it beside cheap and low risky of being injured.
This exercise is the most safety. Even less, for only a common walking. However, it may not be impossible the complaint find from other factor. Such as structural disorder of the body, choosing unfitted shoes, the road condition, or wrong way of walking. Most complaints do not come suddenly.
Often, they come when are not managed soon, so they will be harder. Disturbance will happen when there is a recurrent movement and pressing a part of muscle or sensitive body tissue. Here are some complaints find in walkers:
Pain on toes or heel skin
Perhaps, the skin will get blistered because foot skin rubs against unfitted shoes continuously. Suggested for walkers to wear fitted shoes, of course, to avoid it or wearing thick shocks. If foot gets blistered, for the brave one, use sterile syringe or needle after dipped in 70% alcohol to remove liquid from blister. Then, cover with plaster. Not to forget cleaning blistering skin with alcohol before removing the liquid. If you are not sure with your bravery to inject and stick it, wipe the blistering skin clean with alcohol. Then cover it with gauze or plaster, so the skin will not rub while walking. Blistering will be thinned automatically.
Pain on foot-sole
It is possible in having disturbance of plantar fascia, a binding tissue connecting heel and balls of foot. Using stiff and hard sole of shoes may cause an over tension of plantar fascia, so foot-sole will be painful. The special symptom of this disturbance is pain on foot-sole felt in the morning when you just get up and put down tour foot on the floor. Stretch your pained foot-sole to reduce the pain level.
Pain in lower calf and heel
It may be affected by an Achilles tendonitis, an inflammation of Achilles tendon that connects calf muscle to heel because of walking too much, especially if not accustoms to walk. Muscle tension during climb up and down the hill may disturb Achilles tendon, too. If felt only a light complaint, you may decrease distance and frequency of walking activity for a while.
And when your complaint decreased, start increasing distance and intensity of walking activity step by step. Also, avoid climb walking, because it can increase tension of tendon. Enough stretching may help decrease risk of getting injury.
